I think the V-M format is a good one for commercial applications.  
It gives you lots of views on one handy reel and the viewer is a 
bargain.  You do have to recognize that the V-M has a much narrower 
field of view than the Realist and European formats and you have to 
keep that in mind when photographing.  The easy appraoch would be to 
use a longer lens (100 mm) and then reduce the 35 transparency to fit 
the V-M format.

Something to think about when doing those closeups - some of those 
ranges I listed in the table are going to require unattainable 
f/stops for sharpness from near to far.  So you may be more limited 
by the f/stops on your lens than by stereobase.
