Polaroid slide film...

As has been pointed out, the emulsion on Polapan, Polachrome, etc is very
fragile. Conversely, the film itself is *very* tough. Many Viewmaster film
cutters won't punch it! In addition to the applications already cited, a
place where I've found it to be useful is making test photos where
lighting is unusual, and you have the time to shoot and process a roll of
Polaroid (this can be done in the field--shooting thru end product-- in
less than 5 minutes!) By doing this, you can make every exposure count
without bracketing when you load up your real slide film. You also need to
work with films that have close ASA values. I think there's a Polachrome
ASA 125, which is close enough to make a shot with standard ASA 100 E-6

with a small fudge factor.
The manual Polaroid processor only weighs about a pound and can be easily
packed around in a gadget bag. Film can be processed in full daylight
conditions.
