Yes, the Polapan has a very unique character.  It's fairly low-contrast,
and almost has a sepia-tone quality to it.  The grain is much less
prominent compared to Polachrome (as you would expect from a black-and-white
film).

You must be using a projector where the polarizers are behind the slide.
As has been noted, this film depolarizes light, so the polarizers must
follow the slide in the light path, not preceed it.
