Here in Cleveland Jim Motley and myself are trying to start a 3d club... 
We gave a short 3d slide presentation at the Cleveland Photographic 
Society (and Jim visited another camera club in the area.  Our experience 
is that it is difficult to get 2d people interested in 3d.  The main 
reason is that these people are used to doing certain kind of work and 
they cannot be easily convinced to try 3d.  Especially the 2d print 
people who are doing darkroom work with nice B&W and color enlargements.  
In my mind, best canditates for 3d photography are those who have not 
mastered 2d and are somehow disappointed by they cannot catpure with 
their cameras the beauty of a scene as they first saw it with their own 
eyes.

Jim and I decided to start a 3d club independently of the local 2d
photography/camera clubs.  We are still in the stage of letter writing
and we are planning for a first meeting sometime this spring.  Regular
meetings should start next Fall.

IMO, stereo clubs is a great concept, a great place to develop and
promote stereo photography.  Every major city should have one!
Perhaps if this presentation goes well you will consider starting
a 3d club in Rochester.  I was under the impression that there was
such a club meeting informally at Kodak.
