A Flash Jerry-rig question

Hi All!
The other day, one of my flash units broke. The hotfoot snapped off (don't
ask!!). I was left with the unit intact, save for two wires (black and
white) dangling out of the bottom. At this time, I'm working on two
different flash adaptor projects for my V-M personal (thanks to Messers.
John Bradley and Paul Baker). What I'm wondering is, can the flash be
hot-wired directly into one of the adaptors I'm now making? I've heard most
disturbing stories of folks being zapped by the current generated by a
strobe flash unit. Scares the heck out of me. I'd hate to toss the flash,
it isn't my best, but its one I like. Am I safe in hot wiring? Or is there
a precaution I should take. I thank you for any help you might give.
Best,
Bob
