I am not one to answer, but I remember reading somewhere (on P3D?) that
the reason antique stereo prints neglected these aspects above was that
simply it didn't occur to them or they didn't have the apropriate 
knowledge. I am not saying this but just reporting what I remember
reading. In any case this is not a problem with contemporary prints because
they are aware of these factors. As for slides, they had the benefit of being 
introduced rather late when 3D techniques in stereo placement matured.
