Re: Are stereo slides worth anything ???

I don't understand the "among friends" part, but to answer your question,
I am not getting 20 pictures per roll that I would sell for $3. I would
guess 5 per roll. Also, I mentioned buying lots for $0.10. These
lots include what I consider total rejects, i.e. slides that I would not
sell to anyone. I mentioned that I would pay more for good slides and
the ones that I sell are, IMO, better ones, even if I call them rejects
(the reasons that I reject them is that I usually have others that look
better; technically they are fine, i.e. not fuzzy, bad exposure, etc.)
The question of how to price my slides came up when I was attempting to
stereo photograph weddings. I figured that selling each slide for $5
was a reasonable (in the cheap side) price.
There are people who sell stereo images for $1,000 a shot. $5 is not
unreasonable, IMO, even "among friends". Who is selling the slides is
also a factor. Images by Paul Wing or other well-known stereo
personalities, naturally sell for more.
Finally, stereo view cards from contemporary workers are selling for
$50 in auctions. What do you say about that?
Since there is no well established market for stereo slides, perhaps
an auction will be the way to determine what they are worth. Stereo
slides are being sold in auctions. Check them out!
