This is a fairly standard practice adopted by manufacturers to avoid
them underselling their distributors and retailers, since direct
sales usually make up only a very small part of their total sales.
Imagine if you were the corporate buyer for, say, "Toy's 'R Us", and
you found out they were selling the viewers for less than you could.
Would you be encouraged to continue selling this product, when the
manufacturer was your direct competition?
By selling at a higher price, and *advertising* that it is a higher
price, they are encouraging people to find those retailers and to
patronize them.
