Three quick comments on some recent topics, which don't
merit a posting each.
1.There was talk a few days ago about panoramic stereo.I'm
aware of two commercial view systems which used panoramic
stereo. One was the excellent Hanimex Vista-Viewer from
Australia which used the Simda panoramic stereo camera
system. They produced a whole range of scenic 4 view
slides of Australia, USA and Denmark. Dalia had some
illustrated in her last catalogue. The other system I recall
was the Pan-Pet from Japan. Produced I believe for a World's
Fair in the 70's, this was a continuous strip of 35mm film with
about 24 very wide panoramic pairs per roll. They used an over
under system- one view up top the other below , and a system
of mirrors to achieve viewing.
2.Bill Davis talked about the "Wow" "Gee" response at his recent
slide show. I was delighted to get a similar response to a talk I gave
to a group of 17 year old students at my daughter's school recently.
Far and away the biggest "Wow"s were for the Chinese Stereo
World viewers and slides from Widescreen Centre. Have they been
discussed in the past , and do we know what format these fascinating
slides were taken with? The content too is superb- lots of lively people
scenes and coverage of Chinese ethnic minority villages.
3.And lastly..... can I be the first to persuade Bill Davis to tell us
about the Miser Panorama. I spent a happy afternoon on the Kaiser
Panorama a while ago- now I want to know how to build my own-
is it six ViewMasters strapped to a table lamp?
Best wishes, John Bradley
