|This weekend I plan to try and see how well curved Keystone view cards scan.
|Would squishing them flat for a while cause any damage to the (now) old paper
|surface image?

Although purists will probably cringe, I just put a couple of stout
books on top of the scanner cover which flatten the views to the
glass surface. Seems to do no damage. This is a hp scanjet (strange name,
don't you think? like inkjet, but an INPUT device...) where the scanning
bar moves but the glass is stationary. I don't know that I'd do it on
the moving platen models like some Howtek units, though.
