Actually, I'd guess that the most important aspect of Being There is that
the images of points on the far wall don't move at all on your retina as
your head moves through space, even if it's going pretty fast. Stereo
basically bottoms out past 100 yards or so (give or take a factor of 10
;-) ) but motion parallax always works if you can just move faster...
