Oh boy, my Stereo World arrived before I heard about on Photo-3D!
This is Nov./Dec. Vol.23 No.5, if you are keeping track. Or even
if you aren't. Inside again there are no pictures of Dr. T. :-)
No pictures of me in this issue, either. Sigh.. My 15 minutes are
up, I guess.
What is in this issue?
"Inside the Graf Zeppelin" by Tim White and Craig Daniels, with
over a dozen stereos, including internal structure as well as
passenger's accomodations and crew quarters.
"Bad Stereoviews" by Brandt Rowles This is a reprint of seven
views from the author's prize-winning collection of "the worst of
the worst" stereoviews to have slipped past quality control. This
collection was a big hit at NSA '96, where it garnered First Place
in the Open Category.
There is also a report on the November 6, 1996 Stereo Exhibition at
Orange County (NY) Community College, organized by Professor of
Psychology Stuart Stiles. My name appears in this article, so
maybe the 15 minutes aren't quite over. :-) It sounds like this
3-D exhibition might become an annual affair. Prof. Stiles is
soliciting suggestions for projjects that college students can do
to learn about aspects of 3-D imagery. Please send ideas you wish
to share to : sstiles@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
There is an article about five different LCD (sic) 3-D Glasses,
VRex's VR Surfer, SimulEyes VR, 3-D Spex by NuVision Techlnologies,
Kasan Electronics' 3-D Max, and 3-D TV Corporation. They give VR
Surfer high praise but admit not having fully tested all the sets.
Included in the envelope with Stereo World were all the reservation
forms for NSA '97. It looks like this is going to be a great
convention!
As we already knew, Dalia and Andrew Miller are hosting the Trade
Show, so there should be full-sized tables for the dealers this
year. I see that they have a bit more setup time allowed, four
hours on Friday evening plus an hour and a half Saturday before
even the Early Birds arrive. The Early Birds get a deal this year
too. Only $15 gets you in 1 1/2 hours before the cheapskates, er,
frugal consumers. :-) Last year it was $20 for only 1 hour.
Questions about the Trade Fair? Contact the Millers at
dddalia@xxxxxxxxx
The Stereo Theater applications are being handled by Ron Labbe. If
you attended NSA '96 in Atlanta, you know that Ron has a low
tolerance for boring shows so you might expect a bit better pacing
this year.
There are two bus tours scheduled for Monday, one for photos and
shopping in Seattle and one for photos in a scenic local area where
Puget Sound meets the Pacific Ocean.
Anyone wishing to volunteer in any capacity to help make this the
most successful NSA Convention yet is invited to contact Ron
Kriesel at kriero@xxxxxxx Contact Ron also if you need
registration forms or info.
For any other information or concerns about NSA '97, PLEASE DON'T
CONTACT ME! That was last year. Thanks.
Best regards,
Bill Davis
