My experience with the Spud (Sputnik)as well as results I've seen from the
Lubies suggests that they are "adequate", especially when stopped down to
around f/16. But if you try comparing them to professional MF single cameras
like Blads and RBs, forget it. You get what you pay for.

Is a proportionate stereo base important to you? If you have a quest for
Ortho, than twinning may cause problems. Others see no difference or prefer
the exaggeration.

There are few options in medium format stereo:

1. Use a single camera
2. use two single cameras twinned
3. Buy an antiquated camera, which could be anywhere from over 100 years old
to 20.
4. Buy a highly inflated customized version ( one was in Photokina a few
years back)
5. Make your own.

One mod option you didn't mention was the 120 folder route. These can be
reasonably priced, easy to both twin or siamese, and can have lenses of
exceptional quality.

Two of these designs can be found at:

On the topic, I'm currently working on my 5th and hopefully my best Medium
format stereo camera. It's tentatively called the Stereo Pro, and will be
designed with quality in mind. It has razor-sharp 4-element Yashinons,
x-synch to 1/500 automatic advance and a METERED PRISM! It uses Yashika mats
and other stuff for parts, but will be a completely remade 3LR stereo
camera. Unfortunately I haven't reached the testing stage yet, but when I do
I'll post it on my page.
