3-D Discover

The 3-D Discover people were set up at the Toy Fair in NYC two weeks
ago. This is discouraging -- in the fact they represent themselves as a
"toy"-- but encouraging in other ways.

The company said that they have about 30 new titles coming out and will
be utilizing a 25 scene format soon. Not all will be "hyper panarama"
shots. (I noticed that the Brugges cassette, to name one, is not
hyper). This will expand the amount of scenes on a cassette but I have
to assume it will expand the price as well.

The most interesting news to come from them is the fact that they are
developing a CAMERA for this format. These cameras will be available
sometime in the next year or so (tenative). The camera takes 3-D
pictures and then you mail the film cartridge to Wrebbit and they, in
turn, process it and return it to you as a 3-D Discover Cassette.
(Remember View-Master did the same thing...making a camera available for
personal reels so you could have reels from the store as well as your
own.)

It will be interesting to see this new camera when it comes out...yes,
we, the View-Master people, will be one of the first in line to buy one.
However, it could be a problem if Wrebbitt is the only one able to
develop and process the film -- prices could be set by them and be as
high as they want!!!

More will be posted as these items are developed and info is provided to
us. I'm sure Gabriel will have a lot to say in his article that he is
writing for STEREO WORLD.
