A "splitter" with a single input aperture introduces keystone distortion
into the images (discussed by Ferwerda). I don't know how objectionable this
effect is in practice with a typical "splitter".
A 2-aperture system does not have to have keystone distortion. I don't know
whether this camera's optics are good enough for this difference to produce
a noticeable benefit.
