Allan Woods (the optimist) philosophizes:

>As we circle the 3-D drain, trying to snap up the disappearing bits
>of our recreational technology before they disappear into history's
>sump (like Albion mounts) I can't help but think that as more people
>are turned away from good 3-D illusions, that can only serve to
>quash once again the sporadic resurgence of the growth of interest.

But Allan, you forget the 3Discover, a genuine attempt at re-establishing
the popularity of 3D without gimmickry, the newly-announced Talking
Viewmaster viewer, which, although still vaporware, promises to at least
regain some attention for stereo imaging, and the 3D IMAX films playing
around the country and the world.

So yes, while some venerable companies sadly are disappearing, and lots
of schlock labelled as '3d" is being produced as always, there are still
some people and companies trying to revive "real 3D" while trying to
remain afloat upon a sea of public ignorance and ambivalence.

Don't give up the ship!
