Thanks to David Kazdan M.D. for the following info about the KEYSTONE
OPTHALMIC TELE-BINOCULAR question i recently posted on photo 3-d.
"There was a device something like what you describe used for pilot
screening by the Army Air Force during WWII. It shows up in one of the
Clark Gable flying movies; in the end, my understanding is that it was
never demonstrated to verify much about a pilot's vision.

I have another Keystone ophthalmic device, a stereo viewer designed for
prescription sales for eye excercise. I don't see that it's any different
from any other stereo viewer (and I use it for my own stereo pairs) but it
has a very serious booklet for loggin exercises and the pictures included
with it are designed for some sort of specific eyeball action. It's a neat
old beast.

I can't post to the listserver for some obscure reason (my local machine
adds a routine direction to outgoing mail that the servers won't accept, I
have the same problem on other groups); post this if you think it's off
interest.

Anyone else with any history on this item?
