You're certainly right about this. Cardboard slide mounts are 
hideously difficult to use. I also tried some of the aluminum ones, 
but they were difficult in different ways. Sharp edges on slots catch 
in the sprocket holes, the slots allow slides to slip and rotate, and 
the foldovers carry a seemingly  endless supply of cardboard fibers, 
shreds, and who knows what else, all of which have an _electric_ 
fixation for your slides. And that nasty silver tape!

I'm sure you can learn to deal with all these problems, but why 
bother?
