old lenticular magazine

Hi all:
I have come across 9 issues of an incredible magazine from the late '60's
to early 70's called VENTURE (a travel mag cross between Natl Geographic &
CondeNaste Traveller). On each cover is a beautiful 6-3/4" square
lenticular photograph of the featured sight. It was a bimonthly
publication of Cowles Communications. The photos are credited to VENTURE's
"3-D Camera" as photographed by Visual Panographics Inc. various
photographers.

One issue even has the same size lenticular photo *inside* the mag of
Montreal's Mayor Drapeau with the caption: "Montreal has a new
dimension-up! And VENTURE's 3-D camera captures the man, Mayor Jean
Drapeau and the model, Place Ville Marie, that began the
transformation to a twenty-first century city."

Can you imagine the cost and work involved in placing such lenticulars
within a mag (& on covers)?!! Maybe that's why they no longer exist...!

At some point, they started identifying the lenticular as a "Xograph" with
a registered trademark symbol.

Anyway, the other cover pics are: Bodega Head shoreline (near San Fran.);
island tabletop montage; Dutch cheese market in Alkmaar; windmills in
Leidschendam, Holland; Christ statue overlooking Rio; another neat
still-life arrangement; Sudbury, Massachusetts Wayside Inn pilgrim
re-creation scene; Royal Horseguard scene in London; and Easter Island.

Just some additional 3D miscellany...!
-Diane.
