Viewers vs. Projectors

I'm a relatively new 3D enthusiast, and I've gone the 2x2x2
route. I'm surprised by some of the claims I've read here that
viewers are superior to projection for stereo slides. For me,
projection is the only comfortable way to view stereo.

I wear glasses (nearsighted and astigmatic), so it's impossible
to get close enough to any viewer to see the entire image, thus
I've never experience the "stereo window" in a viewer. No
viewer's focus adjustment comes close to compensating for my
myopia. My eyes are narrowly set (57mm). The adjustable
viewers I've seen seem to have a lower limit of about 60mm.
When I get new glasses, I often have to order my frames from the
children's catalogs.

Even though I had several ViewMasters as a kid, it was only a
year or two ago that I learned they were stereo images. I could
never see both views simultaneously. I can't free-view prints,
nor have I found a hand held viewer that lets me clearly see the
images available in books or on web pages.

Projection, on the other hand, is awesome. If it weren't for
projection, I wouldn't be interested in stereo at all, and my
interest in flat photography would be significantly reduced.

Am I alone in this situation. Doesn't anybody out there find
projection easier to see?

Aid.
