I think you have described polaroid's vectographs, from around the 40s?
Do a search on the P3d archive on vectographs and see if this is what you
mean. I have some vectographs that you can hold up and look at with stereo
polaroid glasses and see clear ghostless 3D. I think they were only in
B&W, though I'm not sure.
