I think people may be interested to know that the Rowland institute
for Science has developed a process which allows you to print
full-colour vectographs using a home ink-jet printer. A paper was
presented by Jay Scarpetti and Vyvian Walworth of the Rowland Instute
for Science at the recent Stereoscopic Displays and Applications
Conference in San Jose (Feb 11-14, 1997).
quoting their paper:
"We print the two images [of the stereopair] on opposite surfaces
of specially prepared substrates, using dichroic inks in otherwise
standard inkjet printers"
The hardest part is getting the printer to print on both sides
of the substrate with correct alignment.
The results are fabulous.
I plan to make more review information available about the conference
including photographs
(like last year's review at "http://info.curtin.edu.au/~iwoodsa/spie96")
but it may be a while before I get around to it...
Cheers,
Andrew Woods.
