Oxidation of Realist alloy parts

Greetings,

I've recently dug out  my dad's old Realist 3.5.  Operationally, it seems
to be in decent shape - the rangefinder's off, but I'm using hyperfocal
settings. But several of the metal alloy parts of this camera, in
particular the take-up spool, seem to be oxidized. Any suggestions on
halting this process and cleaning up this family relic?
