II vs X

Well,
I am gonna have to put my 2 francs in ...

Considering a magazine like stereo-world,
although I can freeview parallel what they re showing,
I always use the plastic lorgnette thing, because, in my opinion,
it s just plain easier.

about parallel free-viewing,
I think it s a matter of getting ur eyes used to it.
I always have pb free viewing the 1st one,
but then, past the 1st one, I am on a roll.
also, separation is a big factor.

now, here s an interesting poll, how many of u can see
old-style stereo-cards parallel ??
I sure can't.

about cross-eyed viewing,
I think this one is easier to get (at first) because you have
ur nose (if protruding enough) that s right there to guide u.
Pb is, in my opinion, focusing.
but again, it s a matter of getting used to it.

I strongly believe (this should be confirmed by an ophtalmologist though)
that pple should switch regularly between the 2 methods,
since not the same eye muscles are involved.

I also strongly believe (is there an ophtalmologist on the list ??)
that free-vieweing can be an excellent exercise if u have weak
eye muscles, which usually lead to poor maintained eye convergence.

I think this was discussed before at length,
but I can t recall if someone discussed the effect of free-viewing
in a medical setting.

regards,
 Hugues -
