I am a little bit behind with this posting, but I am generally
behind in stereography. I am still printing negatives that I
shot in 1984 in Flensburg, Germany (My wife's hometown)
when the city celebrated it's 700th birthday We have made 3
trips there since that and those negatives still need to be printed.

Thats true George but you sort of under stated my MISSION

It is to
(1) Promote stereography in all formats (yes including slides) by
programs, demonstrations and exhibitions to show that stereography
is fun, simple to do and inexpensive (take a single use camera, a two
minute dissertation on weight shift or sidestep and a lorgnette viewer
and Bingo I think you have it). No formulas, no measurements, no
"elitist talk"on stereo windows, mm between infinity points etc. Basic
stereography and if they like it they can pick it up from there. I even
mention the Random Dot stereogrrams ala Magic Eye. I don't like
them but they are a good teaching tool for teenagers, sort of like "Joe
Camel" in a positive way. When I find a teenager who knows how to
view the random dot stereograms it is a simple matter to get them to
transfer these skills to freeviewing on of my stereo cards.

(2) Encourage current stereographers to do at least a little bit of their

work in Black & White or Cibachrome. With the current technology
these are the only two processes that offer any sort of archival
quality..
There is going to be awful slim pickings in the future when folks start
looking for and collecting "Realist Era" stereography, due to the fact
there
are so few folks working in these two processes and stereo slides made
in that time frame will have long faded into a shadow.

(3) Work to convince the major international stereo organizations and
exhibitions
that they should provide accommodations for those who work in stereo's
classical format, stereo cards. It has been a hard uphill battle in PSA,
but as
you may know the PSA International will have as card division this year.
Since
1993 I have written most of the international exhibition chairpersons
suggesting
that they have a card division in their exhibitions. Some have added
cards to their
exhibitions. The one that I thought most likely to add a card division
was
the Chicago Lighthouse, since they operate as charitable organization and
I
would have thought they would have welcome 40/50 more entries. But I
never
got a response from them.

Congratulations on the new stereo club in Cleveland. I would hope that
it will
be a equal opportunity stereo club and that you do not "discriminate"
against
the stereo minority, those of us who work in classical format.

I am really enjoying the exchange of ideas in P3D as to what is the
best stereo format. It sort of reminds me about the long standing
discussion between stereo card makers concerning BW vs color.

I hope that someone will add to my list of suggested hints for book
publication.
