Most of the 3D movies that would draw any interest are major studio
productions. Universal, Warners and Columbia produced the lion's share of
3D movies in the 1950s. The only *legal* source of prints, therefore, would
be the studio exchanges. Unfortunately, due to the cost of maintenance and
the extremely small call for 3D paired prints, most studios have vault
prints of few if any of their 1950s era 3D movies. There are some prints in
the hands of private collectors, but since you are talking about theatrical
showings, you're treading very thin and dangerous ice if you consider
public showings of prints whose owners have no legal right to own them! The
3D films of the 1980s, being single-strip films, are easier to archive and
more likely to be available, but generally they aren't as good as the older
ones.
