John, no offence intended!  I hope you didn't take it that way.
I had, quite by chance, just learned this myself a few days ago.

Thanks for posting the PNG info.  Haven't had a chance to look at it
yet.  Some years ago I heard about the "great potential" of fractal
compression of images.  Is that what PNG uses?  If not, whatever
happened to fractal compression?
