RE:JPS

Well our "JPS man" returned sooner than I expected and gave 
me the following info:

Canopus DID originate the JPS format and the name.  It was 
presented to several other companies in the business and
quickly embraced by several, especially VREX.  They have
added some tags to the file to indicate a half-height image
(for display on interlaced systems).  This is somewhat 
negative in our view because standard imaging tools such
as Photoshop cannot insert the tags, but we will try to
support it in our viewer.  As I said before, we swapped the
left and right images at the request of others, so there may
be some images out there in the old format (we changed all
the files on our web site, but someone may have copied
some before that).

If anyone else has suggestions for enhancements to this
