That is exactly my experience - but not limited to the samples. 
I got 150 used mounts (for inexpensive read free) and could not 
seperate them without pinbreaks. Not too many breaks per mount 
though. The mounts were about 3 yrs old.... perhaps something 
has changed so that the more recent pins do not snap as readily?
