As the big 3day approaches, Larry mentions some ways one can 
view glorious 3d on regular television programing. Paul also
gives an example with a car scrolling from left to right. 
Another simple example which one can try right now as you
are reading this, is to put on the glasses that came with
Barq's root beer or from the pizza joint and slowly move
your cursor. If you use the "official" 3D glasses then move
your cursor to the right, you should notice the cursor 
jump off the screen, while it's moving. If you move it the
other way it will seem to recede. This is not a new example
but just commenting on it since it's timely. This will not
work if you don't have the "official" glasses. Kidding.
As long as one is darker than the other and on the right
side (for 3rd Rock), it should work fine. Even mirrored
glasses work well.
