Storage boxes

There is from time to time a discussion about storage boxes

I recently came across a set of boxes that are made out of untreated wood,
Can anyone see any problems about me using these for slides storage? Am I
going to have problems with slide degredation in a few years if I use these ?

On a related note have any of the UK members come across any suitable
slide storage (Realist format) that is easily obtainable in the UK ?
