******* *Terribly deficient dual lens systems*???!!! How better to obtain
stereo (dual) images? Other than Pulfrich, there is nothing better or more
ideal than a dual lens (or more) system. Better yet if it is equipped with a
variable stereo baseline, something impossible with a single lens system.
Upgrade the tools, not downgrade the expectations. We're a tool building
species, let's use our abilities for the optimum not the minimum. Hooking
two cameras together is easier than most space science! From all appearances
we've done quite well in space, so what are we waiting for with 3D?

Ghosting is an artifact of some of the current tools. Unless you intend to
provide new tools for everyone overnight, why not use and enjoy what we have
available now. 3DHDTV (about as easy as 2D) is just around the corner, but
why wait till then for 3D?

If you don't want ghosting, use side by side cross viewable broadcasts (full
color, no glasses or special hardware required), or field sequential
systems, or Pulfrich, or use grayscale anaglyphics, or just don't watch the
anaglyphics. I am not in favor of an abstinence approach to 3D, so I would
LIKE some anaglyphic once in a regular while, even with ghosting. If we use
the system, the tools will improve. The biggest problem has consistently
been a lack of application. As folk on this list know, 3D is alive and well
and has been for quite awhile. Better tools and systems are coming. The
public would be amazed if they knew what they were missing.

There's no point to the chicken vs. egg discussion while standing in a
populated chicken yard. We already have both.
