MCSB, HDTV and DVD

It was interesting last night to watch a show (don't know the channel as I
was surfing and accidentally found this program) describing the new HDTV
format. Particularly when they went to the subject of DVD which provides a
unique ability to have parallel video tracks. They demonstrated a scene of a
train approaching a bridge. The viewer has the choice of watching the main
scene, centered on the train or seeing the same scene from one side or the
other. In the bridge scene you could look out the right side of the train or
the left as if you had stuck your head out the window. Such a facility with
parallel tracks would allow the use of multiple stereo pairs coordinated
with head tracking displays that I mentioned earlier.
