Digital Video for 3D?

I have an opportunity to use a couple very nice Sony digital video cameras
for a 3D project but I need to solve a couple technical problems. The video
cameras are going to be used for *still image capture*, not necessarily
video. They provide the advantage of wireless remote control and a zoom lens.

1. Does anyone know if there is a video capture board anywhere that accepts
input from 2 cameras?

2. Is it practical to install two capture boards in one computer?

3. Are there some tips on how to use the software with two cameras? Or know
of software that will do the job?

The computer currently available for this is a Power MAC.... I'm willing to
try and arrange for a different computer if it solves the problem...

The task seems easy enough, just watch both incoming digital signals and
choose the moment for image capture. Then edit the two resulting stills into
a stereo image. Unfortunately, the cyclopeian industrial complex doesn't
think in terms of more than one, unless you are looking at a full blown
video studio. (That would be like a freight train used for killing a fly, in
this case) Though it seems reasonable that a two camera situation would be
handy for a lot more than stereo images. I just need to find the right
formula of hard and software for the task.

Has anyone tried anything along these lines?

Thanks,

Larry Berlin
