Re: fixing rotation 'between chips'
Peter Abrahams is worried about rotation in RBT mounted slides and asks:
>Before I apply sticky tabs to a half dozen of my priceless chips, does
>anyone have any other solutions to image rotation between pairs of chips,
>preferably avoiding any sticky substances?
The RBT mounts are designed to let you position your chips vertically
and then slide them parallel. Because you cannot combine the two
motions, you cannot fix rotation in any way other than discarding
the pin and rotating one of the two chips and then holding it in
place with some sticky substance.
The Albion mounts let you combine the two movements so you can
rotate the chips with respect to each other (but you always have to
keep them in place with tape).
I don't see how you can avoid the sticky substances but I don't
see why you are concerned. They only apply at the edges. Many
stereo photographes have used the aluminum tape to hold the
chips and no ill effects have been reported.
Out of curiocity... what makes these chips "priceless"?
