Just a thought: Is the projector the only item plugged in to that circuit?
Is this the same projector that you tested the 750 w bulbs in and couldn't
detect a significant increase in output? Also the one with the 20-foot
vacuum cleaner cord? The problem *might* be too much draw for the size of
the supply line. 1000 (or 1500) watts of lamps, plus whatever draw from an
old motor, plus a 20 foot cord.... If I'm not mistaken, this could
exacerbate an existing motor problem.
Or am I just advertising my ignorance to the list again?
You mentioned a three-position switch. Do you turn the motor on first, let
it come up to speed then turn on the lamps?
One other point to mention regarding oil. When I rebuilt Bill Ewald's
push-button projector, I put a drop or two of oil in the fan motor. When I
then turned it on, it proceeded to deposit a fine spray of oil all over the
bulbs, condensers, etc. More hours cleaning...
Best regards,
Bill Davis
