Hi folks,
BobH (has he got a full name?) said about pan and tilt tripods:-
>the invasion of lousy movie style tripod heads in tripods sold to
>still photographers..namely a platform with a long handle that
>releases both movements and allows panning, but can be locked.
>These are an abomination as when you stoop to view often your
>shoulder hooks the handle and dumps the tripod.
There's a simple answer to this, put the camera on the tripod back to
front. Not only is the handle not now buried in your chest, but you can
have your left hand framing the shot and your right conveniently on the
shutter button. :-)

Don't underestimate the abacus.....it requires no power, can be made with any
materials you have to hand, and never goes bing in the middle of an important
piece of work.
Many thanks to Douglas Adams.
