I talked to a fellow once who knew him (at least to the point of
being over to his house).  I don't recall his exact words, but the
essence as best I remember was that stereo photography was a 
quickie-toy sort of thing not taken seriously by Gowland.  

Although that book of his does have stereo specific things in it,
it's photos are mostly if not completely 2D and the book's contents
has great resemblence to his other books.  I very much like the
book and glad I have it, but it wasn't what it could have been had
Gowland been serious about it.  :-)

Mine has those missing too.  However, the fellow I mentioned had
a prototype stereo slide viewer that was motorizied (look in the
front and push a button for advancement to to the next slide) and
the unit was filled with Gowland 3D photos.  One of the models
was holding a stereo camera (Wollensak probably).  :-)

He said it wasn't for sale... and Gowland had the other unit.  :-)
