Gowland had (has? I'm told he's still around, and a friend advises that
4x5 Gowlandflexes are still in production...just don't know what his
current tastes are format-wise) a notable distain for any format smaller
than "large," which may have something to do with it. Shooting with
cameras which have widish angle lenses (not the easiest to work with for
portraits) may have something to do with it, as might working with a
medium which tends to enhance reality rather than romance...
