Hi all,

Bill Davis expressed his concern about George Eastman House's coming 3D
series. Well Bill, I was also at the "House of Wax" show. In fact, I'm
going to be relocating to Rochester (from California; talk about culture
shock!) in a couple of months to attend GEH's School of Film
Preservation. From what I heard "behind the scenes," I don't think you
have anything to worry about. Everyone was happily surprised by the
sell-out "House of Wax" showing and I think it opened the eyes of a few
people to the economic viability of stereo showings. The "talk" when I
was there: the 3D festival (in the Spring of '98) would consist of a mix
of films from the 50s and from the 80s revival. I'm not sure which 3D
films are in the GEH collection and which they would have to obtain from
outside sources but I'll try to find out when I'm there. I should also
be able to find out about scheduling pretty far in advance of the
screenings. I not sure I'll be in a position to offer input into film
choices, but you never can tell. At the very least, I should be able to
post advance notices and updates to photo-3D on any and all 3D showings
at GEH. I do know that they're planning to show Andy Warhol's "Flesh
For Frankenstein" in Spacevision (over-and-under 35mm stereo) this
Halloween (gross, disgusting, and hilarious). By the way, what kinds of
3D activities are there in Rochester? Any clubs?
