DrT rationalizes the far-reaching scope of the name of the club
he and Jim Motley recently started:

Those Columbus residents must drive like demons! :) DrT says it takes
him 3 hours to drive to Detroit (official mileage 164), but folks
from Columbus can get to Cleveland (officially 146 miles) in 2 hours?

What exactly does this have to do with selecting the name?  You
and Jim both belong to the "Detroit" club.  Did your joining result
in a movement to rename the club to the "Michigan/Ohio" club or the
"States Bordering Lake Erie" club?  Should we now conclude that
Ohio residency is a requirement for membership in the "Ohio" club?
Erie, Pennsylvania is closer to Cleveland than Columbus is.  Are
residents of that town not welcome to join?

Naming a club for the metropolitan area in which it meets seems far
more logical, IMO.
