Hi all,
Seriously, it sounds like I missed _plenty_ at NSA97, and I'm very much
looking forward to getting to Richmond next year, but I was in the throes
of blissful Honeymooniosity. List-fellow Greg Dinkins shot the wedding in
3D, and I have yet to see the results , but he seemed to have a good time
and shoot plenty.

Though initially put off by Israel's lack of Brooklyn Bridges, I managed to
come up with plenty of things to snap while there, including several
camels. Also got IDF soldiers on the beach, A bunch of tourist/pilgrims at
the Dome of the Rock, a walk across the rooftops of Jerusalem... I have
already mounted everything, the jet lag enabling me to be very productive
in the hours between 3-7 A.M. My Realist perfomed admirably and I got
some of my best-ever stuff. I shot Velvia and Kodachrome and wish I'd left
the Velvia at home. With the sun that high and bright the contrast was just
too much.

Immediately upon return to NYC, I hit the flea market early to find an
Arequipt Stereo Theater for a song. This viewer is great in concept, but
needs some serious work. I improved the brightness by adding a reflector
to the bottom of the nose piece, but the electrics are still flickery and
unreliable, depending on contact with the body during the clankity
slide-changing procedure. I'd like to bypass that mechanism and just make
a switch to turn the light on... And the lenses leave a bit to be
desired... anything to do about this, Dr. T?

Also... We recieved as a wedding gift a stereoscope which I've never seen
before. It's a wooden box about 4*5" with a framed ground glass that
serves as a diffuser in the back. It has 1" diameter lenses in black
metal(?) housings and a slot on the side which is used for some kind of
transparency. It's identified by a plate in the front: "Unis-France
Stereoscopes Mattey-Paris" I'd like to find at least one view to see in
this thing... what format would I be looking for? (Don't tell me... there
was a workshop on it... arrgh...)

Thanks,
Eric
