IMHO the highlight of NSA '97 (and there were many!) was Richard Haines'
restorations of early 3D films. These were shown on VHS format with the
L/R signals separated by a QD Technology Inc. QD 1210 video field
de-multiplexer, projected with side by side video projectors fitted with
crude plastic polarizers. Here's Mr. Haines description of his films:

"I also became involved with the restoration of several "lost" 3D films.
Among the titles were "Motor Rhythm" (in Technicolor) which was exhibited
at the 1939 World's Fair, "Doom Town," a b&w short from 1953 about a live
atomic explosion, and a demo film entitled "Milton Gunsberg Presents
Natural Vision" whereby Lloyd Nolan described the 3D process as a "magic
trick." A company called "last Chance Productions" licensed theatrical
rights and plans to release them with other shorts on a roadshow basis
through the U.S. I'm also planning to transfer them to Sequential Field
and Anaglyph systems and package them with "Run for Cover" for video and
cable release. I secured four Russian 70mm shorts from StereoKino entitled
"Parade of Attractions" to round out the package."
