NSA 1997

I want to add my plaudits to the Convention Committee
for a job well done. My wife, Krys, says that if the cities
who host these things knew how much fun we were
having they would charge an "Entertainment Tax"

As we stayed a extra few days in Washington I missed
most of the convention postings so perhaps these two
items I am going to being up have already been discussed.

1. I was surprised that there were no contemporary stereo
slides, including Viewmaster reels, in the NSA Auction.
I have been told that there are many folks who collect both
these mediums, and I figured that some one would put some
of their works up for auction. Stereo Cards didn't do a lot better
as far as numbers of NSA members who contributed-Stan
White and I. There were 210 lots in the auction, 22 of them
or about 10 % came out of my darkroom. This may not a record
but it is a pretty good average. I think it is a painless way to
donate to NSA, some collectors get a chance at subjects they
don't ordinarily find and it is a lot of fun to hear people bidding
on stereographs that you have produced. I read about all the film
being put thru cameras, which is great, and I wonder if a few of these
images wouldn't make a collector of say - Chicago images- very happy.
Think about it as I believe it add to the Convention.

2. Did anyone get the ID of the two guys who "mooned" the rather noisy
"early bird" crowd on Saturday morning? I was returning from my regular
early morning walk and as I walked thru the parking lot you could hear
the
chit-chat of the early-bird folks, as the entrance was in the "hole"
between
the hotel and parking garage. All of a sudden these two guys came out
on their respective balconies, dropped their pants and "mooned" the crowd

below. It happened rather fast, but it was synchronized -in stereo, so
to say.
I think they were on the 6th floor and I am not sure if the Early Birds
knew they
were being "mooned" or not. Who knows maybe someone got a stereograph
of this performance.
