JPS format on Macs.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to make these new web browsers do as they're damn
well told?

Following the discussion of 3dexpo's use of JPS I've been trying to use a
trick from the early days of the web to get around it. It goes like this.
Go to the 'helper applications' dialog. Click on the 'new' button to
create a new document type. Fill in the boxes to say that a suffix of
'JPS' belongs to a document type of 'image/x-jps' and should be loaded
into JPEGVIEW. Maybe restart the web browser. It should now know what to
do with these jps things, pass them to jpegview. It's what we did before
Netscape decided that everything should appear in *their* window.

However, the arrogant sonofabitch still insists that I need a plugin for
this data type. Internet explorer is equally incompetant. Have these
guys been pratting around with Java and stuff so long they've forgotten to
make the basic stuff work?

Just for once I feel lucky to have the only Win95 box on site. ;-)
