Hooray!

You all may remember my trials and tribulations with
trying 3D photography for the first time, and trying to get
a stereo camera to take pictures while in San Francisco...
Well, Paul Talbot was gracious enough to lend me his
Realist for the duration of the trip. After getting back, I
realized that I may have erred and over-exposed all of
the pictures. In order to see if I needed pull processing of
my first 36 exp. roll of pictures, I had Photo Works
process and print the second and unfinished 24 exp. roll.
That one turned out ok except for focusing and light
balance problems. Soooo, I sent the first roll in and just
got it back.

All I can say is WOW!!! These pictures came out FAR
better than anticipated! There are hardly any focusing or
light balance problems, and all of them have great stereo
effects (even if I do say so myself). They all came out,
except for 3 out of the 26 views that were printed (they got
double-exposed which is why only 26 instead of 29 were
printed). Those 3 make for some interesting effects, but
aren't worth as much to me as the ones that came out.
The error I'm sure is due to the fact that I wasn't used to
the Realist's winding mechanism (and lack of double-
exposure retrofit on this model), and also that I didn't follow
the advice presented here a few months ago on winding
before shooting, rather than shooting/winding in one
instance. I tried the former, but old habits (the latter)
caused me some confusion.

So, I'm very much converted to 3D now, thanks to everyone
here on P3D. I will do my best to put some up on the
web because I'd like criticism. That's the only way I will
learn to get better, and I'm sure my very first roll leaves
a lot to be desired. I'd like to single out Paul T. and Photo
Works for special thanks -- Paul for lending me the camera
(I know I've thanked you a lot already, but it doesn't seem
like enough) and Photo works for doing a great printing job.
They are cheaper than Grand Photo and send the prints out
the day after receiving them. The quality as far as I'm
concerned is also very good. I also like the paper they
printed on (it's not glossy, it's matte -- I think that's the
common name for the paper type...).

Unfortunately, noone at work, or my friends are able to
freeview the individual prints. So, I have to now order some
viewers, and maybe some print mounts for them, not to
mention a CAMERA so I can keep this up!! Anyone selling
a Realist in good shape??
