Help with heat seal mounts

I've been using slip in mounts for most all the time I've been shooting
stereo, but since the supply has dried up for the next month or so, I had
to cave in and buy a bunch of heat seal mounts from reel 3d. I have 7
rolls sittin around waiting to be mounted, and 14 or 15 more coming back
from Slodak in the next few days (hopefully).
I am very disappointed & flustered so far. While there are cuts in the
cardboard that are supposed to position the film, I find that the
curvature of the film makes it impossible to use these. I wonder how on
earth I'll be able to set alignment remotely close using these. I used to
have an alignment gauge from back when I started out, and was using
aluminum mounts, but it (and the lightbox it is taped to) have vanished
since my last move.
My questions:
1) what do you heat-seal users do to get the film straight & mountable. I
know that reverse rolling is supposed to work...but in my experience it
only seems to curve the film the opposite of the way it came. I've got 3
rolls hanging in my closet with binder clips weighing down the ends right
now.
2) I have some silver mounting tape like reel 3d sells, which should
theoretically hold the film down OK, but the tape is too wide & gets in
the way.
I'd like to get started mounting tomorrow, and avoid spending 2+ hours
mounting each roll...I'll never finish at that rate. Any speed ideas?
GRRRR! I hate mounting! If it weren't for no-brainer slip-ins, I'd
have given stereo up years ago.
