Jon, I believe Todd's description is accurate --- one image is larger than
the other, enough so, that when the bottom of the frame is perfectly in
allignment, the allignment at the top is not possible. I know exactly what
Todd means because my 2.8 Realist shows the same characteristic. While the
problem is obvious when closely examining a mounted slide in my RB viewer, it
doesn't make viewing a problem (at least not for me). But I do wonder if
someone with marginal stereoscopic accuity in their binocular vision wouldn't
end up with the classic 3D eyestrain viewing slides taken with my camera as
opposed to slides from another camera with perfectly matched lenses.
BTW, I ran a check to verify there is a difference in the film chips and not
the mounts (I was using Albions, not RBT's when I discovered the problem). I
remounted a stereo pair pseudoscopically (right became left and left became
right). The result was the chip that showed more or less of the scene at the
top in one aperture, maintained that relationship when the chips were
switched.
So, I'm asking the same question Todd asked --- Anyone have a solution?
Also, how common is this among Realists? Time for another poll?
