Albert Lin replied to my question, "How do I take my [digital] images
to any arbitrary place to show people?":

"Millions of internet users" viewing my images on their equipment has nothing
to do with taking my images to an arbitrary place. The Internet audience is
self-selecting. Sure it's an arbitrary group of people, but it isn't
an arbitrary group OF MY CHOOSING. The question still remains: I want
to show my digital stereo images to a group of people who will be gathering
together at some location (e.g. a stereo club meeting) not under my
control. How do I show them my digital images? What equipment must I
bring?
Right now, to do the equivalent of a slide show, I need to bring a computer
and some sort of digital projection device. If we assume that polarized
projection will be used (to avoid having to equip the audience with an
arbitrary number of pairs of LC shutter glasses, which unless they are
wireless would be impractical), then we need TWO projectors. Depending
on quality we could be talking easily $10,000 worth of equipment here.
And I don't see this changing significantly any time soon; high-res
digital projection equipment isn't being driven by the same commodity
market forces that are driving down the cost of other parts of the
imaging chain (image capture and storage media). Digital projectors
aren't a consumer item, and based on the trend AWAY from slides and
projectors, seem unlikely to become so.
