I think you're very right for the immediate future, but for a little
bit further in time, maybe not quite so clearly.
One thing not mentioned is that when digital photography becomes dominant
(with computers and the web being even more common household appliances),
one's environment may not need current-needs so strongly. You want to show your
club members your images, you just email each a copy. 100% of your club's
membership (or family, etc) gets to see your images (probaby even better
than your current percentage coverage). Even at the point in time where
the quality distributed isn't "as good", the functional ease probably would
cause this mechanism to be commonly used. Like point-and-shoot 2D cameras.
If bandwidth was cheaper (which it will get) and software formats became
standardized enough (well, could happen) wouldn't it be nice to include
an image pair with each photo-3D posting -- say at the bottom of your
current newsreader window (which you could freeview or cross-eye to
make it easy for now)? Aren't we only -->| |<--- this close to
actually making it happen? For real?
